Papermaking Create handmade papers with unique shapes and textures - good for decorative hangings greetings cards etc.
Modroc Masks Have fun mask making with Modroc (plaster bandage).
Jewellery Making Explore materials and learn about the techniques and tools used to make jewellery at home.
Textile Printing An introduction to printing that will enable you to decorate tee shirts, cushions and cards etc.

An introduction to printing.providing an opportunity to learn how to create individual artwork and contribute to a group with artist Annie Beach
A partnership project DIVA working with Pathways and West Yorkshire Print Workshop
West Yorkshire Print Workshop, Mirfield.

Draw It
Five Weekly classes beginning mid January where participants developed drawing skills and tried new techniques and materials with artist Annette Cobley at West Yorkshire Print Workshop, Mirfield.

Learn how to create simple eye-catching designs and layouts

Graphics
Explore colour schemes and effects in software and create stunning graphics and text

Newsletters
Produce professional looking designs for newsletters etc Support Get templates and support notes for future use

DIVA's DISCOVER Project will run from 2005 until 2010.Comissioned by WMDC, and Kirklees DC Social Services Discover referral-based arts and mental health project.

Diva working across Wakefield and Kirklees facilitating workshops and Short Courses introducing participants to many art forms.

righten up January with some latin sunshine! A popular beginners Salsa Class with Columbian dancer Tanya Cusan ran for five weeks at Central Methodist Church, Pontefract.

The 2007 DIVA Discover Conference
was held at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, West Bretton, Wakefield in May 2007.

The Conference brought together professionals and volunteers working in arts and mental health care. There was an opportunity to share good practice and discuss some of the key issues emerging from the experience of working together.
Participants were enabled to explore opportunities for a more integrated approach to care planning and available resources for arts and mental health initiatives.

Ann Wallis from Arts Council England and Elaine Burke from Hull PCT made presentations before the delegates split into discussion groups.

Clare Conlon gave the delegates an overview of DIVA, the Discover Project and the work yet to do in the field of Arts and Mental Health. There followed a performance of Upbeat in celebration of the first phase of the Discover project.

As part of the wide Programme of Discover Activities DIVA in got together with Open House and Hoot to bring you UPBEAT a project providing a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn to drum, sing songs from around the worlds, improvise and generally have
FUN with music

Diva have also held Music Workshops at St. Thomas's Church Hall, Huddersfield and at the Peppermill in Pontefract to allow participants to have easier access to new artistic experience.

In Drury Lane Library, Wakefield Discover Project Participants enjoyed the opportunity to try drama.

2007

Discovering Digital Photography

In April 2007 an introduction to Digital Photography was launched with useful tips & techniques provided in a parkland setting.
Diva provided specially tailored beginners sessions and also a course for more advanced participants in central Wakefield.

Discover Sculpture


A series ofsculpture classes
ran at St. Thomas's Church Hall, Huddersfield and another at 2 Sagar Street, Castleford.

In September 2006 DIVA began a series of
PRINT OUT
Discover workshops on Tuesday Mornings in
North Kirklees

 


Early Creative Writing Classes at Pontefract & Mirfield were also popular
and produced original poetry.
