Marissa voices
support for Voluntary Arts in the Wakefield Express

Marissa Wakefield, Diva's Chief Executive, has also had a letter
recently published in the Wakefield Express (see above) in support of
voluntary arts groups in the current financial climate. She says
"There is much to be learned from voluntary arts groups in terms
of their dedication and enthusiasm to make things happen. These are people
who have pride in what they do, share skills and support one another,
no matter what's going on in the current climate - they are already doing
something about it and improving theirs and others' lives and their local
communities ...
Diva, supported by its members continues to fly the flag for Voluntary
arts in the Wakefield District, making sure no-one forgets how important
this is to to our local communities. We are working with our action group
to ensure that voluntary arts groups are at the centre of cultural plans
for the district.
DIVA Members and members of all Voluntary Arts Groups met
on Tuesday 24 March 10.30am when the action
group will considered the effect that the withdrawal of both the schemes
that WMDC operated - The Kickstart Grant and The
Experience Culture Grant has had on local groups.
If you would like to be part of the action group, have your say and support
Diva as a champion of Voluntary Arts Groups and the important part they
play in the community, then join the Action Group. Telephone Marissa on
