KICKSTART What happens if your group is successful?

Q. Just who can get a KICKSTART grant? A. Sixty Groups have received awards from the Kickstart Grant Scheme in the last four years. Groups like these! Groups like yours! In February 2007 Music4kids received £500 to fund equipment costs for rehearsals and a performance in Wakefield Town Hall. At the same meeting DIVA's board approved an application from Castleford Choral Society had for £500 as a contribution towards a Proms Night. The Elizabethans' Amateur Operatic Society have recently received £300 to fund acting and vocal workshops. Crofton Art Group successfully applied to DIVA's board for a£500 Kickstart Grant to run a workshop once a month for a year.

Art at Large are an emerging group who made an application for £500 is to cover the hire of a venue for the group to meet. Move Ahead have made a successful application for £395 to stage an exhibition of their art. Carleton Theatre Group have received a grant of £330 towards their new project Pontefract Young Archaeologists have made a successful application for £400 to create a Roman Style Mosaic using modern materials. Castleford Male Voice Choir have been granted £300 to fund their recruitment project. Eastmoor Community Archive Group made a succesful application for £300 to allow them to produce calendars and cards. The Charter Players have been granted £289 to promote and publicise a historical drama. WMP Association received a grant of £300 to mount a stage show. Group Nine have been granted £300 to mount a touring visual arts exhibition to community Centres & Libraries. TOTS Stage Academy made a successful application for £300 to produce a variety show. Wakefield Voices have been granted £300 to run three workshops and promote and publicise their group. Carleton Park Estate Residents & Tenants Association made a successful application for £300 to fund an evening of Dance with audience participation. Wakefield Indian Dance & Music Association received a grant of £300 to run dance workshops for children in the Wakefield district. The African Connection made a successful application for £300 to run African dance workshops. Wakefield Library Reader's Group have been awarded £300 to pilot an on-line magazine. Trinity Methodist Church Art Group were granted £300 to purchase materials for a large scale art project. The Recovery Room Group were granted £240 for publicity material for their newly formed group. Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir have been awarded £300 to run a choral workshop for young people. The Elizabethans' Childrens Amateur Operatic Society were granted £200 to run a series of workshops. New Sharlston Women's Activity Group received £300 towards the cost of putting on a childrens show. Upton & North Elmsall Craft Group have been awarded £300 towards the setting up costs of Autumn sessions. Central Methodist Pontefract Art & Calligraphy Group were granted £300 towards the material costs of a stained glass window project. Wakefield Orchestral Wind received £290 towards the purchase of new music for the band. Move Ahead have been awarded £300 towards the cost of an art exhibition. Wakefield Concert Society have been awarded £230 towards the cost of redesigning and relaunching their publicity material as part of their 40th Anniversary celebrations. 22)Normanton Musical Theatre were granted £300 to subsidise the introduction of a family ticket as part of their efforts to develop their audience. St Helen's Youth Project received £300 to employ a professional musician to run four singing workshops. Eastmoor Storyshare Club were awarded £250 to employ an artists to help the group create a banner. Pontefract Young Archaeologists have received £300 for a poetry day using archaeology as a medium. Southmoor Lunch Club were granted £300 for memory based craft sessions to create a banner. The Fruitbowl made a successful application for £300 to hire a professional drama worker to accompany the group on a training weekend. The Charter Players have been awarded a grant of £300 towards the costs of staging a new drama. Kinsley Craft Workshop have been successful with a bid for £300 to employ a tutor to run three pottery days at their workshop. St Giles & St Marys Pantomime Society have been awarded £300 for publicity material to promote a new pantomime. Pontefract Choral Society received a grant for £300 towards the extra costs of working with a chamber orchestra on their next production. Flying Ducks were granted £300 to run creative workshops with Agbrigg and Belle Vue Allotment Association. The Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir were granted £250 to run a choral workshop for young people. Don’t

Wakefield Little Theatre were awarded £300 towards the costs of a drama festival at the Theatre Royal and Opera House The Charter Players were awarded £300 to help them premiere a specially commissioned play. Fitzwilliam Club Terrace Allotment Association were awarded £300 to employ an artist to work with the local community on a sculpture for a wildlife area on the allotments. Write On Group were awarded £300 to cover the costs of IT training to equip the group with the skills to publish their own books Eastmoor Residents Arts were awarded £300 to employ an artist to run workshops for the group. Pontefract Library Readers Group were awarded £300 to book musicians for an event based on books set in India Wakefield Festival Chorus were awarded £300 towards the costs of a joint concert with Wakefield College students. Stanley Wheelers and Wobblers Sports and Social Club were awarded £300 to enable them to work with a designer to produce and print promotional material abut the club. Friends of Pinders were awarded £300 towards the cost of materials for carnival costumes and float decorations. Wakefield Music Collective were awarded £300 to produce publicity material for the group. Green Lane and Featherstone Community Group were awarded £240 to create artworks as part of the development of a community garden. Wakefield Art Club were awarded £200 towards the cost of a series of workshops and demonstrations. Friends of Horbury Library received £300 towards the costs of setting up a Readers' Group at the library. Central Methodist Church Pontefract Art & Calligraphy Group were awarded £300 towards the costs of a large-scale banner project. Different Stages Theatre Company were granted £300 towards the costs of a production in a new venue. Pontefract Music Festival received £300 to develop a website for the Festival.
Wakefield Community Writers Group applied for £500 and were pleased to hear they had been succesful. They wrote:-
